Some favorites from yesterday’s show at Targhee Festival in the middle of the gorgeous Teton mountain range.

Conan O’Brien | Live At Third Man | Third Man Records | Black
This. This right here. Is awesome. I bought it mostly for the novelty of owning a record featuring Conan O’brien playing a live set, but partially because I had seen Conan play guitar before on his show and he’s pretty talented at it. Plus he’s in love with rockabilly and rock and roll!
The set was recorded back in June during Conan’s “Legally Prohibited From Being Funny On Television Tour”. Before his Nashville show he stopped in at Third Man Records for a quick set of covers to an unbelievably lucky audience. The set was recorded live to tape and pressed on wax. TAPE! The set itself consists of a bunch of rock and roll covers interjected with funny lines pertaining to Conan’s life and tumultuous past few months. As well as hilarious between song banter that you’d only expect from someone like Conan. AND Jack White sits in at the end of the set for two songs. This record is not only fun and fun to listen to, but actually good. The musicianship is spot on and Conan’s voice fits his rockabilly love affair perfectly.
I appreciate Third Man’s strides to make their Live series of LPs look like bootlegs. Simple, vintage labels in blue and white and no covers. They only come in blank, black discobags. And I’m definitely thankful for the poly-lined paper sleeve the record came in. I just kind of wish this one came with an awesome cover featuring lots of bright orange pompadour.
I can easily see myself wearing this record out. Luckily Third Man keeps all their records in print. Go get one for yourself.
Oh, and I threw in my watermark, in case anyone tries to rip me off. I’m not sure what the buzz surrounding this will be with it’s release and Conan’s upcoming return to TV.
