And the stockings were hung on @thelumineers bus with care by tour manager Mike #tour #christmas #adorable (at Upstate Concert Hall (Northern Lights))
After we completed decorating our tree I realized how much it resembled a Gryffindor tree. That’s what Jenni gets for sneaking a Slytherin themed wedding by me so covertly.
She & Him | A Very She & Him Christmas | Merge Records | Clear Red | lots of fun things!
A She & Him Christmas record has been long overdue. Fans have been clamoring for a Zooey Deschanel Christmas album ever since her version of Baby, It’s Cold Outside (with Leon Redbone) in the Christmas classic Elf. I can’t comment on the content of this record yet because I try not to listen to Christmas music before Thanksgiving. At the very least, no Christmas music before Halloween. Which means I’ll probably break down on November 1st and play this record daily until Valentine’s Day.
However, the details on this package are perfect. Included with the record is a digital download card, She & Him wrapping paper, a Christmas card that includes the tracklisting, and a poster. The vinyl itself is clear(ly) red. And my favorite - the inner sleeve, made of cardstock and printed with snowflakes. The record itself is definitely less than 140 gram, very flimsy, which is a bit disappointing. I guess I’ll find out soon how it holds up.
You can order the record from Merge Records (free shipping!) or pick it up in pretty much every store ever now.

Dustin Kensrue | This Good Night Is Still Everywhere | Vagrant Records | Translucent Red | 784/1000
I enjoy this Christmas record a lot. There’s something about Dustin’s gritty, sorrowful vocals that really hit me. Christmas is by no means a lonely, sad holiday for me. I absolutely love Christmastime. I just happen to also love his renditions of classic Christmas songs along with a few originals. I’m glad Vagrant decided to press this on wax. Though I wish the bonus tracks they added (a Mewithoutyou cover!) had also included his version of “Please Come Home For Christmas”, a bonus track from his Please Come Home release.
We listened to it today while setting up our Christmas tree. Which, thanks to wife’s incredible stringing abilities, now boasts over 1000 lights (I’ll take a better, non-phone picture later):

Thanks, Dustin.
